This year the Highline Schools Foundation awarded close to $124,000 in Excel and Impact grants. Foundation representatives spent the last two months on Prize Patrol, visiting staff meetings to surprise staff with oversized checks.
The Foundation’s Impact and Excel grant program supports classroom innovation and equity. Excel Grants provide up to $2,500 for projects that benefit a group, classroom or school. An Impact Grant provides up to $10,000 for a program that affects a large group of students.
This year, the Foundation received 124 completed grant applications. Every school that applied received at least one award. Seventy excel grant proposals received an award and five impact grants received full or partial funding.
