Dear Des Moines Families,
It is time to close out a historic school year! We have missed seeing Des Moines students and families in person! A special thank you to all our teachers, staff, and families who supported student learning at home these last few months. We pulled together, learned many new things, and finished the year strong! We could not have done it without you. We hope to know more in the coming weeks about how school will look when we return in the fall for a new school year, so watch the website and your email for the most updated information.
Summer Office Hours
Our office is taking phone calls only at this time during the COVID-19 closure at 206.631.3700 until June 30. The school office will re-open on August 10, Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ONLY if the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. This is subject to change.
Teacher & Class Assignments
Class assignments will not be published until late August at our back to school event. Please watch the website and emails for the most updated information regarding all events.
If you have a kindergartner starting school in the fall, please register them online as soon as possible. We will need a copy of their birth certificate, current immunization records, and proof of address. Kindergarten Jumpstart is scheduled for August 17 through August 21 with the parent meeting being on the 17 at 11:30 a.m. All kindergartners are registered for Jumpstart when they enroll for the Fall 2020-21 school year. You will be contacted via email in mid-August, regarding all Kindergarten information. If you have additional questions about enrolling your child, please call the Highline Schools Family Center at 206-631-3003.
Virtual Kindergarten Jumpstart
Kindergarten Jumpstart will be held virtually and is scheduled for August 17 through August 21 with the parent meeting being on the 17 at 11:30 a.m. All kindergartners are registered for Jumpstart when they enroll for the Fall 2020-21 school year. Since we will not see your children in person during this time we will be offering virtual family meetings as well as an opportunity for students and teachers to interact via zoom. The dates, times and access information for these meetings will be communicated to you. Updated information will be posted on this website by August 7, 2020.
Free Grab-n-Go Meals
For all Highline students and anyone 18 years old and younger. Registration is not required. There are no forms to fill out and no names are written down. If a child is unable to come to a meal distribution site, someone else may pick up a meal for that child. Starting June 22, school district sites will be open Mondays and Thursdays. Youth will receive three days worth of meals on Mondays, and four days worth of meals on Thursdays.
