Applications are now reopened for schools & programs not at capacity. From marine science and welding to health care, aviation, culinary arts, virtual learning, and college-prep academics, Schools of Choice give students opportunities to find the environment that fits their interests, strengths, and goals — and prepares them for what comes next.

Across Highline, Culture & Climate Teams help schools create welcoming environments, reinforce positive behavior and respond early when students need support. Nearly all schools now hold regular team meetings, using attendance and behavior data to guide decisions and strengthen consistent support systems for students. 

CollegeCon Returns April 25!

CollegeCon brings students and families together to explore college, career training and other paths after high school. This free event is open to students in grades 7–12 and their families.

We are celebrating Language Access Month in Highline Public Schools by recognizing the many languages our families speak and our commitment to clear, inclusive communication. In 2024–25, we supported more than 2,400 interpretation requests, 5,000 on-demand calls, and translations that help families stay connected and engaged.

Juniors Get Future Ready at FutureU

Highline Public Schools 11th‑grade students recently spent the day exploring their next steps after graduation during FutureU, a hands‑on college and career exploration experience held at Green River College.

Families and students can choose how they want to receive school messages whether that is by text, email or app notification. If texting works best for your family, you can choose that option. When text is turned on, messages from a teacher, coach, or school can come through like a regular text message on your phone. You can read it and reply right from your phone, just like you normally would.

We are sharing this context to help explain why school districts across Washington are facing budget pressure. When state funding formulas fall short of real costs, districts must manage the difference locally, creating harder choices about the programs, services and daily operations students and families rely on.
